Last week we had the pleasure of George Couros coming to our class and give us a presentation. He spoke to us on what he looks for in a teacher. He gaves us some examples of questions he would ask a new teacher in an interview. He also talked about our digital identity. I never really thought about it before, about how important it is for me to have a positive digital identity. I also want to make sure that my students have their own positive digital identity.
George also talked about making sure to connect with the kids. I also think this is so important. A teacher can know the curriculum really well but if they don’t have that connection with the students, the students will lose interest and won’t pay attention to the stuff being taught.
Overall I’m glad we had this presentation. It really got me thinking about my digital identity and making sure that I make connections with my students. Thanks George!

I really enjoyed Mr. Couros’ presentation too! I thought sharing the interview questions with us was so nice. This way we are able to reflect on the questions that we may be asked in an interview before the actual interview. I completely agree with what you said about the importance of making connections with your students. Once that connection and mutual respect has been built it allows for richer learning experiences and helps with classroom management.

I also enjoyed George Couros’ presentation. I have to say that I feel so much better for my teaching interview, since he presented us with those questions. It was really nice of him to give up his time to do that for us!
I also agree that relationships are so key. If we know our students well, we can plan around their interests and strengths. In turn, they will be more willing to learn and pay attention in class. And just like you said above, classroom management becomes so much easier if the kids know you are interested in them.
Have a great summer!!!
